Rights Group Reports 150 Unjustified Arrests in Bahrain in November

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian people attended ceremonies held across the country on Thursday to mourn the passing anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hassan (AS), the second Shiite Imam

According to Manama Post website, Justice Human Rights Organization (JHRO) reported that over 5 percent of the detainees were children.

JHRO also reported that Bahrain witnessed more than 470 peaceful demonstrations in November, most of which were suppressed by the police.

5 demonstrators were shot by the regime forces, while many others were choked by tear gas used in the crackdown against the peaceful protests, the report added.

It also noted that more than 500 Bahraini citizens have been taken to court in November, facing political charges, while the regime has stripped 32 Bahrainis of citizenship.

Back in November, a report released by the New York-based Human Rights Watch said Bahrain’s security forces torture detainees using electric shocks, beatings and sexual abuse, despite a public pledge by the king of Bahrain four years ago to end such practices.

Since mid-February 2011, thousands of protesters have held numerous demonstrations in the streets of Bahrain, calling on the Al Khalifa family to step down from power.

The protesters have also slammed the Manama regime’s arrest and torture of the political activists, demanding their release.
